A Rewrite; Will The Real You Please Stand Up

I chose to use the title of an amazing book by Fran Harris because whenever I see the title. It always feels like am being called out. Called out because am being everything else but myself. Called out because am not being the best of me that I can possibly be. And am reminded to get back on my path whenever I seem to have wandered off and forgotten how to truly live. Am reminded that we have it in all of us, to be who we really are at our core. Fully and unapologetically and still experience life in the most fulfilling way.

But every so often we forget who we are. We forget who we are when the stress of life piles up. We forget who we are when we don’t take some time to breath. We forget when we don’t check in with ourselves every once in a while. We just get by, doing the minimum possible to stay afloat. We settle into okay jobs, okay friends, okay relationships. We stop demanding much of ourselves except in situations where we know we must step up. And eventually mediocrity becomes our life. And as Tony Robbins says ” in life we only achieve our musts, because the shoulds remain just that.

How different would our lives be if we chose to step up? And not just in times when we are desperate for change but every single day. What would change, if we had the courage to stick to what we know to be right. Irrespective of whether we stand alone or not? If we had the discipline to follow through with our goals even when they are different from everyone else’s. What would change if we strive to always be true to ourselves first before we are with others? We are capable of having the life we want with all the happiness and fulfillment we so badly want when we are real. However, nothing changes until we do.

I love what Lisa Nichols says “Being unapologetic means that I will be ALL of me. I will no longer shrink or compromise myself by playing small so others will not feel insecure in my presence”. Who are you really when you are not looking to fit in? Who are you when you are not worried about being on the spot light by yourself? I look around and I see how many people have been impactful. Impactful because they had the courage to live up to what they believed was their highest selves. They believed in their greatness and chose to have change begin with them instead of waiting for change to come their way.

So today, I take up the challenge to live up to the potential within me, to become the remarkable amazing being that I was meant to be. “Be a Wolf. Be a Lion. Set goals. Smash them. Be stronger. Be better. Show people who you are. Never apologize for being awesome. Stay positive. Stay the course.” Anonymous

Be inspired to live your best life every day.
