As she tossed and turned in her bed that night, she knew then, that her time there was done. The unease and stress that she had been feeling for so long, were a signal for her to stop running and face her deepest fears. It was time to seriously reflect and carve out a new path to find the life she knew she deserved, the life she had only dreamt of years ago.
For so long she had been standing at that same spot, watching people come and go while she waited for her turn to come. Her feet were numb from the pain, her body was giving in but she just couldn’t let go; not just yet; she said. She was fighting so hard to get into this place where she believed her dreams lived. But, the door that she’d seen open for other people and she hoped would open for her, never did.
So that night with her back to the wall, tears flowing down her face. She decided as painful as it was, she had to accept that this was never her path. And even though everyone around, made her think that she was making a mistake. That she needed to try harder and give it some more time. She knew it in her heart that this was her battle and the many sleepless nights meant something needed to change.
She thought about letting go what she had known for so long. Letting go the dream, the life she had envisioned, the friends she had made and it made her sad. But what she didn’t realize then was that; life had always been a journey and not a destination. That by letting go the picture she had in her head of what her life was supposed to be, she would be unlocking the door to limitless possibilities.
“Discovery consists not in seeking new lands but, in seeing with new eyes” Marcel Proust
She said goodbye and though it took her sometime to put behind where she had been, she eventually embraced where she was. She learned to trust her journey and open up to the guidance of the universe. She decided to be fully present and learn what it meant to blossom where she was.
And as if the universe was conspiring in her favor. Her passion and excitement came back to life. Doors opened, endless ideas flowed through her mind and countless opportunities came her way. And then she realized that her dreams were not dead after all, there had just been a million paths to get there. But she couldn’t see it at the time because she was so focused on that one door.
Looking back , she noticed how far she had come and some of her biggest lessons were ;
- It is ok to not always have it all figured out.
- Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the largest step of your life.
- You can only discover new oceans if you are willing to lose sight of the shore.
- Some things get clear only when you have learned to trust the journey.
- Sometimes you just have to turn the page to realize there is more to your book of life than the page you are stuck on.
